Meet The Crew: Casey Kiger

The tire man. That is how Casey Kiger describes himself.

1. What is your role on the crew?

I’m the tire guy…I make sure whatever tire pressures or staggers jonboy wants is right and ready for practice, qualifying, and race. I treat those tires like my they’re my kids….no one messes with em! Tires are a huge key factor in racing…very important and a huge responsibility. I feel privileged for him to trust me and my judgment to handle tires.

2. At what point did you get in to racing/become a racing fan?

I’ve been into racing with my dad since I was little….taking me to race museums and to the speedway every chance we got. I was/am a big Richard Petty fan. I have been going to the stadium for close to the last decade…but as a crew member for the last 5 years. I love ANY type of racing…from modifieds to racing handicapped motor scooters in Walmart back in the day…I’ll race just about anything!

3. How did you link up with the Jonathan Brown crew?

I actually got invited to help out his brother bobo last year in the sportsman division…then through him I met jonboy who only raced off and on randomly last year until this year full time when he dubbed me to be his tire guy..we’ve been good buddies on and off the track ever since.

4. When you are not at the race track, what are you doing?

When I’m not at the track I’m either at the shop working on Harley’s or at the motocross track ripping up dirt…I don’t drink or smoke so going out isn’t my thing…some good pizza and a cruise on a Harley is my fix.

Meet The Crew: Greg Lambert

Greg is the self proclaimed “geeky” guy of the group, but loves his racing and the Brownstyle Racing team none the less.

1. What is your role on the crew?

Essentially, I do what is asked of me. If they need a tool, I go get it, if they need an extra hand, I lend it. During practices, I am checking tire temps and brake temps. I feel that I am there when I am needed and hopefully out of the way when I am not.

2. At what point did you get in to racing/become a racing fan?

Well, that question has a fairly long answer. I lived in Kannapolis NC, which is the home of Dale Earnhardt Sr. But, never once did I go to a race, or a race track or anything like that. Then I met my wife, and she took me to my first ever race, it was at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Fast forward a few years, we meet Tony White, he talked me in to going to Bowman Gray Stadium and my wife was happy that he did. I listened to Tony spot for Jon Boy at my first ever BGS race, and I was hooked.

3. How did you link up with the Jonathan Brown crew?

Tony White actually, he introduced me to Jon Boy and the car owner at the time, and I started helping then, I haven’t helped him every year, but I do try to help when I can.

4. When you are not at the race track, what are you doing?

You can usually find me enthralled in some form of geekiness or working. I have been known to play a few video games, as well as read a few books. During the cooler parts of the year you will find me on my outside on my RZR.

Greg also owns Ryan’s Appliance and can fix your washers, dryers, refrigerators, stove, dishwashers and the occasional garbage disposal.

5 Random Questions with Jonathan Brown

1. What is one non-related race thing we might not know about you?

I like to build stuff, whether it is with wood or metal, like motorcycles or really anything. I just enjoy building things with my hands.

2. What is one fun thing you like to do in your free time?

What is free time, I spend all the time I can with my son Maverick, he’s 4 and growing up way too fast. I like to take him fishing or riding four wheelers. I take him to feed the deer. He loves to be outdoors,  just like his daddy.

3. When you are on the go, what is your go to snack at the gas station?

I just picked up a white chocolate Kit Kat, or something spicy, like spicy Doritos, or anything jalapeno flavored.

4. If you could spend an hour with any one race car driver who would that be?

That’s a tough question, because I have already spent time with Junior Johnson. So it would be Dale Earnhart Sr. But truthfully, I get to talk to my favorite racer every week. My uncle Don Smith. He’s a two-time Bowman Gray modified champion, He has raced with the best drivers that ever walked through the Bowman Gray gates.  I call him multiple times a week and every Saturday to get his opinions on the car and racing.

5. If you could vacation anywhere in the world where would you go?

Alaska, because there is nothing but the great outdoors. Fishing, hunting wildlife… just drop me right in the middle of it all.

Win #3 And We Are Ready To Do It Again!

It’s almost that time again. We finished out last weekend with our 3rd win of the season and it felt awesome. We can’t thank Tim Brown enough for the transmission when ours broke. What should have taken 4 hours to fix, we fixed as a team, in 20 minutes. It’s a great feeling to know you race with competitors willing to help.

Thank You to my crew and the fans for sticking in there another week, let’s do it again tomorrow.
